One of the firs goals of ASSIDO is to manage the maximum of autonomy and independence for the Down Syndrome and other psychic disabled people empowering their abilities.

Among the programmes and services that ASSIDO offers to all their members we have a programme in Cultural activities. These involve Visual Arts and Dance. VIAGGIATORI

WHO Vi.d.A was founded in 2001 to promote social integration projects for the disabled people - to us simply "differently able persons". Our Association works on projects to stimulate the potential of the "differently able persons" focusing on the integration with the "normal people". Our mixability groups follow artistic and creative programmes, dance, theatre or music searching for a general psycho-physical wellbeing. Vi.d.A also organises tourist projects for "people with special needs".

WHAT Theatre, creative workshops, Danceability, recreational activities, cinemas, dinners and concerts during the week. Weekends you can find us at "Liberamente" in via G. Murat 76 or in Lavena-Ponte Tresa (VA) Lugano Lake where we have been since 2004.

Vi.d.A cooperates with different associations in Milan (MaschereNere 2002, Oragnizzazione Musicoterapica di Volontariato -ONLUS " La Stravaganza" since 2003). Since June 2001 Vi.d.A. has been organising the Festival Internazionale di danza e teatro "Il tempo del sogno/Dreamtime..quando abili e disabili danzano insieme (Cascina Bergamina in June 2001, Teatro Sociale di Como in June 2003 and Teatro Wagner in 2004 in Milan ). Moreover since 2003 Vi.d.A has taken part in the International Festival of Avignon Off, section in the street.

Thanks to the organisation of the Festival Internazionale di danza e teatro "Il tempo del sogno/Dreamtime..quando abili e disabili danzano insieme" Vi.d.A. started to cooperate with the Spanish Association ASIDO, leader of the European project DISS-ART together with Sweden and Rumania. Vi.d.A. represents Italy in a research project on performing arts focusing on dance and mixability groups.

Since 2004 Vi.d.A has been working on dance-theatre and danceability workshops as part of the didactic programme of Scuola Media Padre Beccaro Onlus (1-2-3 secondary school)

HOW We are not a travel agency, we are an Association that continuously works with "people with special needs". Only after a period of observation and knowledge-at least two months- our team decides on individual programmes to be carried out together with the family and the educators. This is what we call in Italy P.E.I.I (Piano Educativo Individualizzato e Integrato nel Tempo Libero e in ambito espressivo.) The work is coordinated by a team made up of educators, animators, psychologists, dancers, artists and experts on social theatre.

STORA DALDANSEN

Stora Daldansen is an association well-known for International Ballet Competitions as well as a host for many professional performances. Not as wellknown for engagement to dance education in the region or in the community, and for supporting disable childrens right to the art of dance. Stora Daldansen started 1988 and has grown to an important dancefestival with many engagements in different areas but never forgetting its professional purpose. We are working together with Scandinavian and Baltic countries, supporting young professionals, changing experiences, developing our common cultural heritage within dance, music and costume creation. It has become possible to reach countryside public which is very difficult for big classical companies in Opera houses which mostly are located in capital cities.
Stora Daldansen is also cooperating with Grasse, France, having common European finals. Young dancers get a possibility for larger labour market as well as special training possibilities.

To support the youth has from the very beginning been the biggest target for the association and the goal has been to support young people also in community of Mora where Stora Daldansen is located. The art of dance has become visible in Mora and in Dalarna. Schools in community offers obligatory dance for all children, 7 years old. There is a possibility in high-school to choose dance education for three years. The community offers also many different possibilities for dance education outside of schoolsystem.

To introduce the art of dance to disable children in community is natural, ALL children has a right to all languages, also to the languages of arts. Working for a common methodology together with Spain, Italy and Romania will bring this work forward and we wish that it will give an inspiration for others to see this group of children as a possibility instead of an obstacle. To experience how the own practice of arts and a creativity is giving well-beeing, rehabilitation, movement and joy for every human being.
